What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine based on the principle of "like cures like": a substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can, in a highly diluted form, stimulate the body to heal similar symptoms in someone who is unwell.

Rather than suppressing symptoms, homeopathy works with the body's own healing response. Because it treats the whole person (physical, mental, and emotional), two people with the same condition may receive two different remedies, based on how the condition uniquely shows up in each of them.

Homeopathy was developed in the late 1700s by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Frustrated with the harsh medical treatments of his time, he built a gentler approach on careful observation, detailed case-taking, and highly diluted natural remedies. Homeopathy spread across Europe, India, and the Americas through the 1800s and remains widely practiced around the world today.

Energy, frequency, and the vital force

Hahnemann believed that health is governed by what he called the vital force: the living energy that keeps the body in balance and works to heal it. In his view, illness begins as a disturbance in that energy before it shows up as physical symptoms.

Many homeopaths today describe this in terms of frequency. Each person carries their own energetic pattern, and each remedy carries its own as well, drawn from the plant, mineral, or other natural substance it was made from. Remedies are prepared through repeated dilution and vigorous shaking, called potentization. Homeopaths understand this process as releasing the substance's energetic qualities while leaving behind almost none of the physical material.

The goal of a consultation is to find the remedy whose pattern most closely matches yours, so it can gently prompt your vital force back toward balance. This is a traditional homeopathic understanding rather than something established by conventional scientific research. It is the framework that has guided remedy selection for more than 200 years.

The initial consultation is the foundation of your care. It's a comprehensive, unhurried conversation covering your full health history (physical, emotional, and mental) along with your current concerns, lifestyle, and family history. This detailed picture is what allows me to select the remedy or remedies that are right for you, not just for the name of your condition.

After our session, I spend 2–3 hours researching your case before selecting your remedies, reviewing your full symptom picture to find the most precise match for you rather than a quick, generic pick.

The price is the same for adults and children, because the same amount of work goes into every case.

Most people need at least two remedies, sometimes more. Each 15 ml bottle is a $15 value (30 ml is $30), and all of them are covered in your $175.

Follow-up consultations

$75–$85 30–45 minutes

Follow-ups track how your remedy is working, whether any adjustment in potency or remedy is needed, and give space to address anything new that's come up since your last visit.

I typically suggest booking a follow-up 8–10 weeks after your last appointment.

Child's consultation

The first appointment gives you time to share your child's full health story, starting with the current concern and moving through their broader history. Because homeopathy treats the individual, not just the condition, this detailed picture helps identify the remedy that's the right fit for your child specifically.

Follow-up consultation, $75–$85

A 30–45 minute visit to assess how the remedy is working and whether any adjustment is needed. Any change in remedy is not included in the follow-up price.

Consultations for minors are offered as general wellness and educational support, not medical diagnosis or treatment. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the full consultation and gives consent before we begin. This service does not replace your child's pediatrician; please continue routine and urgent medical care with your child's doctor.

Hi, I'm Emma Noto

A homeopathic practitioner in the mountains of North Carolina, working with clients by telehealth and meeting locally in person by arrangement.

My path into homeopathy started at home. Growing up, my parents reached for herbs, supplements, and homeopathic remedies before anything else, long before I understood why. While studying Wildlife Rehabilitation in college, I volunteered with a local holistic veterinarian, and that's where I first fell in love with holistic healing, homeopathy and flower essences especially. Years later, while pregnant with my second child, I took two short homeopathic courses that confirmed what I already knew in my gut: I was ready to become a practitioner myself.

I trained for two years through RMDY Academy of Homeopathy, earning an Advanced Practitioner qualification. It's a hands-on, clinically rich program. I spent my first year observing senior homeopaths take and work through cases, then began taking my own cases for my student portfolio from year two onward, building real experience alongside classroom learning. I'm currently furthering my knowledge with a postgraduate program specializing in complex children.

I work with families, individuals, and pets, supporting everything from acute illness to chronic conditions, hormonal balance, eczema, asthma, and more.

When I'm not with clients or studying, you'll find me hiking, biking, and adventuring with my family and friends.
